Opening Themes for 2022-2023:
We know that everything we do is grounded in who we are, because of who He is. It is our Biblical Worldview and foundation on the Word of God that leads and guides our every step. Last year, I invited you to join me in an exploration of the character of God by studying His many names and characteristics. This year, we will build from that foundation, by exploring more fully what it means to follow Him daily through our theme: “Growing in Grace: Sanctified in Christ.” Knowing our identity is in Him, we will prayerfully consider the ways we see that identity formed and molded through Christ. Only through Him do we have the power to die to our own selfish desires, grow in grace, and be made new.
Beginning with the importance of what it means to be created in the image and likeness of God—our sovereign Lord and Creator—our year will move through considerations that cover the full story of God’s rescue plan for us through Christ Jesus. We will meditate on the good news of the Gospel, knowing Jesus is our only hope for salvation and this has significant meaning for our lives. How do we live out what it means to grow in grace? Each week will focus on a statement that finishes this line: Growing in grace, we ___________. A few examples are: “Growing in grace, we are adopted into His family.” “Growing in grace, we respond as He calls us to follow Him.” “Growing in grace, we are able to love our neighbors.” “Growing in grace, we are able to rejoice in difficulty.” What joy and peace we find resting in the truth of 2 Peter 3:18 “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.” We grow in grace, reflect the character of Christ, and give all glory to the Him forever!
