Emily Basham (Kindergarten)
Emily joined the Lorien Wood faculty in 2014. She received a B.A. in Special Education from High Point University, in North Carolina. Since graduating she has received an add on licensure in Elementary Education. Emily has taken graduate level classes on children's literature, and foundations of reading. Emily taught both special education and 1st grade in Washington DC for 5 years. She has found her home as Lorien Wood's kindergarten teacher for the last two years. Emily loves getting students invested in their own discovery of learning.
Emily enjoys teaching God's word to children and guiding them to apply it to their lives. She also loves to see students eyes light up when reading a good book. When not in the classroom, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her husband and new daughter, Charlotte. She loves to be outside, read books, and share heart to hearts over a cup of coffee.
Kristen Tamulonis (First Grade)
Kristen Tamulonis joined the Lorien Wood faculty in 2013. She received her B.A. in Elementary Education from Notre Dame of Maryland. Prior to joining our faculty as the First Grade Teacher, Kristen taught kindergarten for several years in Baltimore, Maryland. She avidly pursues introducing children to drama and music, both in the classroom and in her many years as the director of a summer musical production group that she founded for students in the city of Baltimore.
Kristen finds joy in helping the Lord's young children to know and respond to His love and in introducing them to the great delight of reading. When not in the classroom, Kristen loves to fill her time with books, tea, family, friends, writing, and enjoying God's Creation.
